outdoor tom got diagnosed FIV+ so we're transitioning him inside and he's MAD

Neighborhood stray turned porch regular turned my cat, basically. We finally trapped him for a dental and bloodwork, found out he's FIV positive, and the vet strongly recommended indoor life from here on. Logically I agree. Emotionally I am living with a furry union organizer who yells at every door and throws himself at windows. Anyone get through this without losing the whole household's sanity?

If he'll tolerate it, catio or screened porch is gold.

FIV is not the death sentence people think, so thank you for giving him safer years.

You may need to treat this like rehab from adrenaline. he's losing a huge sensory world.

Window perches, food puzzles, and a schedule. boring answer but it matters.

Outdoor boys often calm down once they realize the meals are reliable and the weather indoors never sucks.

Been there. first month was rough, third month was a different cat.

Ask your vet about temporary meds if the frustration is getting him worked up constantly.

The fact that you're doing this after an FIV diagnosis means you are actually listening to the hard advice, which is huge.

Leash walks worked for ours after the door-rage stage.

That's what it feels like, honestly. withdrawal from being a neighborhood manager.

I put bird videos on for mine and he looked at me like I'd offered an ipad to a cowboy.
