anybody start learning bass embarrassingly late and not regret it?

Im 37, rented a cheap bass for a month because I got tired of saying "one day." Fingers hurt, timing is wobbly, but locking into a simple groove for even ten seconds feels incredible.

Would love motivation from fellow late starters.
