hydrolyzed food actually worth it or am I paying \$126 a bag for vibes

Frenchie with recurring ear infections and mystery itchies. Vet wants an 8 week hydrolyzed trial and told me NO treats, no chews, no stolen toddler crackers. I believe her, I just also nearly fainted in the food aisle. If you've done it, did you get real answers out of it?

Ask if they have canned too. My guy refused the kibble texture and acted personally offended.

Unfortunately yes, it's a proper trial or it's basically expensive kibble cosplay.

We got answers, but only because we were psycho about compliance. One rogue biscuit can muddy it.

The worst part is explaining to relatives that no, the dog cannot have roast chicken 'just this once'.

My mother is already sulking because she thinks the dog should live a little.

Frenchie owner here: ours ended up having environmental allergies too, so the food trial was helpful but not the whole story.
