constipation scare after hairball paste and now I don't trust anything

Gave the flavored hairball gel because my 11yo was coughing more with shedding season. Two days later: tiny dry poops, one unhappy trip in and out of the box, me panic-googling at midnight. Vet said monitor unless no stool by tomorrow or vomiting starts. While I wait, what actually helped your mildly backed-up cats before you got seen?

Movement matters too. feather wand him into cardio if he'll play.

If he starts puking or stops eating, go in sooner. constipation can get ugly fast.

Plain canned pumpkin worked for my cat, but only because my vet specifically suggested a tiny amount.
