the work-from-home routine that finally stopped my dog from pacing at 2 pm

After a year of random schedules I accidentally discovered my dog needs the same thing I do: a dumb predictable afternoon reset. We now do a ten minute sniff walk after lunch, a frozen kong while I do heads-down work, then no attention till 4:30. Pacing dropped a ton. Posting in case another remote worker needed permission to get less creative and more repetitive.

The no attention till 4:30 part is key. Intermittent reinforcement makes little casino goblins.

Remote work got easier once I stopped feeling guilty for not entertaining the dog all day.

Dogs love systems even when humans keep trying to freelance life.

This is so real. enrichment doesn't always mean inventing a puzzle box from recycled yogurt tubs.
