beginner portfolio question: btc only or tiny alt basket too?

I'm new, have mostly been buying bitcoin, and part of me likes the simplicity. Another part of me keeps thinking maybe I should have a little ETH and maybe one or two others just so I'm not learning with tunnel vision.

How did you approach this in your first year?

I went 70/20/10 and still decided the 10 created 80% of my stress.

If you do alts, keep the number small. Beginner mistake is building a zoo.

I can absolutely see myself adopting too many weird coins out of curiosity

BTC only is the easiest to understand emotionally. Fewer tabs open in your brain.

What crushed me early wasn't being wrong, it was owning too many tiny random things to follow properly.

A tiny ETH position makes sense if you actually want to learn how the ecosystem differs.
