paper straws are fine if you stop treating one drink like a three-act play

There, I said it. If I finish the iced coffee in a normal human amount of time, the straw remains a straw. People talk about them like they dissolve on contact with air. Are some brands terrible? sure. But the level of outrage feels wildly disproportionate to the inconvenience.

"three-act play" made me laugh because yes some people nurse one soda through an entire shift.

Counterpoint: milkshakes exist and some paper straws fold under pressure immediately.
