Finally moving coins off the exchange... anything you wish you'd known before first hardware wallet setup?
My tiny stack has lived on an exchange because I was intimidated by self-custody. Hardware wallet arrived today and I'm equal parts excited and convinced I'm going to press the wrong button and launch my savings into space.
What do you wish somebody told you before your first setup?

Send a tiny test amount first. Fees are worth the peace of mind.

Do the setup slowly and offline-ish. No rush, no multitasking, no TV on in the background.

Buy directly from the manufacturer, not random marketplace sellers. That one gets repeated for a reason.

Don't overcomplicate it on day one. You don't need 6 steel plates and a hidden bunker yet.

Also do a recovery check before transferring the bigger amount. People skip that because they feel 'done'.

Write the seed by hand, then check each word twice. Read it back to yourself like a bored school teacher.
