how honest are your investor updates when a bad month hits

Churn spiked for us this month after two customers paused budgets. Nothing existential, but the graph looks gross. I don't want to write a doom novella and I also don't want to do the cheerful founder spin where every bruise becomes a "learning moment". Where's the line for you?

Yeah I think I'm overcomplicating it because I'm embarrassed, not because the data is unclear

If you have context, use it. "Two customers paused budgets" lands very differently than mystery churn.

State the number, state why, state what you're doing. Adults can handle a bad month.

Shorter is better. Nobody wants a 14 paragraph emotional support memo.

The people who matter will smell spin faster than bad news.
