how do you decide if filler is worth it in older shows?

Im working through a longer series from the 2000s and every guide online acts like filler is either sacred character time or radioactive waste.

Do you sample a few and see, or just trust a list and keep moving?

Trust the list if the canon arc is already strong. Your time matters.

I fear I needed permission to value my own time here

I sample. Some filler is dumb fun, some feels like punishment.

There was one cooking filler arc in a ninja show that I defend with my life.
