47 after a messy divorce. rebuilding from almost zero, be honest

I don't need pity, just perspective. Age 47. Retirement goal is still around 67 if possible. Risk tolerance: medium, maybe medium-low because life already did enough volatility.

Fresh start allocation on about 78k:
- 60% global equities
- 20% bonds
- 20% cash

My instinct is to get more aggressive because I'm behind, but another part of me is exhausted and wants stability. What would you prioritize first here?

Depends what the cash is for. Fresh starts sometimes need a bigger cushion for practical reasons.

Job is stable, emotions less so. maybe that's the real answer

20% cash on 78k is maybe a little high unless your job is shaky.

First priority is consistency, not heroics.

You don't need to win the next two years. You need to avoid blowing up the next twenty.
