dental estimate for my 12yo chihuahua was \$1,980 and I had to sit in my car after

I knew senior small-dog teeth were bad news, but I guess I had fantasy numbers in my head. Estimate includes bloodwork, anesthesia, probable extractions, pain meds. I am not mad at the clinic, just trying to figure out if this is 'normal awful' or if I should get another quote. I'm in Phoenix if region matters.

Not in AZ but mine was 1600 base and then every extraction was another little dagger.

This is weirdly comforting. I mostly needed to know they weren't charging moon prices.

Normal awful, sadly.

I paid 2300 in Denver last spring for a 10 lb dog with 9 extractions. I almost levitated.

Small dog dentals are where savings accounts go to die.

Pet insurance usually won't help if the dental disease was already noted, just FYI.

Definitely okay to get a second quote as long as you don't delay if the mouth is painful.

Make sure the estimate says dental x-rays. If it doesn't, ask why.

I would rather skip three vacations than leave a dog in chronic mouth pain. Still hurts though.
