Fake "support" almost cleaned out my aunt

My aunt bought a little bitcoin on a big exchange and then posted on social media asking a basic question. Within an hour she had random accounts messaging her offering help. One even had the company logo as the profile pic and told her she needed to 'verify' her wallet by entering her recovery phrase on a form.

She thankfully asked me first. I know this is obvious to a lot of people here, but beginners really do not realize how fast scammers swarm anything crypto-related.

Crypto needs a giant sticker on every app: DO NOT TYPE YOUR WORDS INTO RANDOM STUFF.

They also prey on embarrassment. People don't want to look dumb so they comply fast.

Yep, the tone was basically 'quick, fix this before your account is frozen forever'

Good catch. The fake urgency is always the tell: verify now, secure now, last chance, blah blah.

The speed is wild. Post one question anywhere and the vultures appear.

My rule for family is simple: no legit support person will ever need your seed phrase. Ever.
