drawdown confession: I really thought my future-tech basket was different

This is my once-a-year public self-dragging. In 2021/2022 I built a side portfolio that was basically a shrine to disruption. Lots of ARKK-adjacent stuff, cloud names, some clean energy, a tiny dash of crypto for seasoning. Peak to trough that sleeve was down about 61%.

I didn't blow up my retirement because the main accounts were still boring:
401k target date 54%
Roth total market 21%
Brokerage chaos 18%
cash 7%

But man, watching the exciting bucket become a compost pile taught me more than a dozen books did.

At least you ring-fenced it. Most real disasters happen when the chaos bucket quietly becomes the whole pantry.

Did you sell or are you still holding the fossils?

Sold most of it last spring. Kept one tiny position so I can stare at my sins in real time.

The 'for seasoning' line got me. Same. I seasoned myself straight into a crater.

61% hurts, but it sounds like tuition not ruin.

People mock target date funds then reinvent one badly with more steps.
