18, Roth funded, how dumb is 20% crypto

Birthday money, summer job money, and some freelancing all went into my Roth and a tiny taxable. I'm 18 so I know people will say I can take risk, but I also don't want to learn my big lesson with the whole account.

Right now:
VTI 55%
VXUS 20%
BTC 15%
ETH 5%
cash 5%

Is 20% crypto at 18 acceptable dumb, or still just dumb dumb?

If you keep it there, at least promise yourself you'll rebalance instead of letting it become half the account.

Honestly, asking the question already puts you ahead of where I was

Fair. I think I'm trying to separate young from invincible.

I'd cut it to 10 and never think about this again.

Acceptable dumb is still dumb, but at 18 it's recoverable dumb.

The danger isn't age, it's habit formation. Big speculative chunks can become your normal.
