dividend apps are tricking my caveman brain

I keep opening the app to see the projected annual dividends tick up by tiny amounts and it makes me feel productive, even though my total portfolio performance is doing most of the actual work.

Anyone else get weirdly attached to the payout number? I get why people chase it now.

Same with those little confetti animations after a payout 😂

This is such a normal beginner trap and people still act embarrassed about it.

Oh absolutely. It's the gamification of cash flow.

That was basically my whole first year condensed into one comment.

Nothing wrong with liking dividends, but the apps know exactly which lever to pull on your monkey brain.

Same. I kept looking for a cleverer answer than consistency.

I still enjoy it tbh. As long as you know what spell it's casting on you.

'spell' is accurate lol

I had to stop using that screen because it made me buy worse businesses just to make the monthly number prettier.

Right, and once the system feels annoying you start avoiding it.
