Portfolio Check · by Rohan Mehta · 2026-09-15

First portfolio at 24, please don't roast me too hard

Age 24. Goal is mostly long-term wealth, maybe partial retirement before 60 if life cooperates. Horizon 25+ years. Risk tolerance: medium-high until I actually see a crash, then who knows.

Current split:
- 55% world equity ETF
- 15% small cap ETF
- 10% bond fund
- 10% cash
- 10% bitcoin/ethereum

Total is only around 18k so I know this is tiny compared to a lot of you. Mostly I want to know if this is reasonable for a first portfolio or if I've made it too complicated already.

10% bonds + 10% cash at 24 is cautious but not crazy. Depends how jumpy you are.

Small cap + world ETF is fine. Just don't keep adding a new fund every time you get bored.

I'd simplify. 18k does not need five moving parts.

Honestly better than what I did at 24. I had 100% cash and a gaming PC.

The gaming PC gave memories though

The 10% crypto is the only part that sticks out to me. If it went to zero would you shrug or spiral?
