I own 12 funds and I’m starting to suspect I only needed like 2

This happened gradually. One here because of lower fee, one there because of dividends, another because it had ESG in the name, another because I wanted emerging markets 'tilt'. Now rebalancing feels like untangling earphones from 2012.

How did you decide when simplification was worth the effort?

Careful with tax/transaction consequences, but conceptually yes, many of us collect funds like stamps.
