anyone leave academia after postdoc and not regret it

I'm at the stage where another short-term contract sounds less romantic than it did at 27. I like research. I do not like moving cities for maybe-money and maybe-authorship every two years. Would love to hear from people who jumped to industry, policy, publishing, whatever, and how long it took to stop feeling like you "quit".

Left for industry at 33. Grieved it for a bit, then enjoyed dental insurance with my whole soul.
