is switching brokers in year one more hassle than it’s worth?

I chose my first broker in about twenty minutes because I was excited to finally start. Now I understand the fee structure better and there may be better options where I live. My account isn't huge yet.

Did any of you switch early, or did you stay put to avoid transfer/admin drama?

Tax documents from the first broker are the part I'd think about most.

Exactly. the answer I could repeat to myself usually beat the clever one.

I kept my old one for legacy positions and used the new one for future buys. messy but workable.

I didn't expect to feel seen by such a simple reply, but here we are.

I switched early and I'm glad I did. Small account = smaller pain if you need to liquidate and move.

Same. calm systems age better than exciting ones.

That's probably the kind of compromise I need

Yep, and once you shrink the decision tree, consistency gets much easier.

Counterpoint: if the difference is tiny, don't turn your life into a migration project over 20 bucks a year.

This line belongs on half the finance channels people binge.
