for those who adopted kittens in pairs, do you regret not getting just one?

We met two littermates this afternoon and now my brain is soup. I can afford either one comfortably, two with some belt-tightening but still doable. I work from home 3 days, office 2. Main worry is being outnumbered immediately.

Pairs are easier in some ways, harder on food/litter/vet bills in obvious ways. If the money part feels tight, respect that feeling.

This is the part people romanticize away. Double vaccines/spays/checkups adds up fast.

Which honestly means you're thinking about it the right way.

This is the exact math making me sweat a little

I got one and wished I'd gotten two, honestly. The entertainment/exercise piece is real.

Also depends on temperament. Some bonded-ish pairs are just convenient roommates, not soulmates.

Same here. My single kitten turned my ankles into a social outlet until I adopted a second a year later.

The boring adult answer is: if you can cover surprise vet costs for two, do two. If not, one can still have a great life with engaged humans.

Routine food/litter was fine for us. Surprise urgent care for two would've been the real gut check.

Yep. People focus on toys and not the 'two cats can get sick in the same month' part.

Outnumbered immediately yes. Regret? zero.

I adopted siblings last year. They wore each other out instead of climbing my curtains 24/7.

Seconding this. We got to drink coffee while they WWE'd each other instead of us.

curtain preservation is a strong argument
