JPM is my 'sleep at night' financial even though boring stocks somehow still find drama

I don't expect a moonshot. I expect competent management, scale advantages, and the ability to be everyone's safe harbor whenever the regional-bank panic machine starts warming up. That has value.

I keep hearing 'banks are uninvestable' from people who mostly mean 'I don't understand bank accounting and it scares me.' Honestly same, but at least I know which management team I trust more.

The bank accounting point is real. I can model a software company badly. I can barely read a bank.

Same. That's partly why I pay up for the obvious one.

Boring until regulators or CRE headlines show up and then suddenly your low beta stock is doing parkour.

Owning JPM is admitting that adulthood happened.

Every time panic hits, Jamie goes on TV looking like he already read the ending.
