Rebalanced for the first time and immediately felt like an idiot

I'm 42. Goal is boring long-term retirement. Risk tolerance: medium. I had drifted from roughly 70/20/10 to something closer to 82/10/8 after equities ran up, so last week I sold some winners and topped up bonds.

Back to target now:
- 70% global equities
- 20% bonds
- 10% cash

Naturally equities bounced again right after. I know this is normal but emotionally it feels like I sold the fun part and bought the vegetables.

Rebalancing is supposed to feel a little stupid in the moment.

'Bought the vegetables' is exactly it.

If it feels amazing you're probably performance chasing instead.
