can a cat outgrow a name or am I overthinking this

Photo of our siamese kitten formerly known as Dot. She's 7 months now and somehow Dot feels too tiny? My partner wants to rename her Juniper before it fully sticks. She currently answers to Dot, Dotty, Miss, and 'please get off the shelf'.

Dot becoming Juniper is cute but honestly every cat ends up with twelve nicknames regardless.

If she knows Dot, maybe make Juniper the government name and keep Dot as the street name.
