rescue denied my application because I work full time and I'm salty about it

Remote two days, office three days, no kids, stable income, previous cat lived to 19. Rescue emailed that they prefer adopters home most of the day for this particular pair. I get matching cats carefully but the tone made it sound like full-time workers shouldn't own pets. Is this normal now or did I hit one intense group?

Some rescues are great, some are basically HOA boards with kittens.

Municipal shelter near me would have handed you a cat and a coupon in 20 minutes.

A lot of these groups are reacting to bad returns and overshooting hard.

That makes sense intellectually. emotionally I still wanted to write them a dissertation.

Could be that pair genuinely needed someone home more. but the wording matters.

Try a different rescue. seriously. philosophies vary wildly.

I volunteer and we do deny for schedule sometimes, but only for medical/behavior cases. otherwise no way.
