I sold the wrong lot because I didn’t understand how my account tracked purchases

This is not a catastrophe post, just a reminder that 'buy button easy / sell button obvious' is a lie. I assumed my account would dispose of shares the way I imagined. Nope. Different lot than I expected. Tiny amount, confusing paperwork, annoying lesson.

Read the boring account docs before the stressful day, not during it.

People think beginner mistakes are all stock picks. half of mine were interface misunderstandings.
