why does 3-fund feel too easy?

Not asking for permission to complicate my life, just curious if anyone else has this mental block. If investing is supposed to be important, why does the answer so often boil down to three broad funds and going outside?

Current setup:
US total market 60%
Intl total market 25%
US bonds 15%

It feels almost fake, like I'm forgetting the secret level.
