Stock Talk · by Noah Miller · 2026-10-01

SOFI is the stock version of my friend who has a great pitch and bad timing

I don't mean that as a pure insult. I actually think the product set makes sense and management communicates the vision well. But every quarter there seems to be some new reason the market says 'fine, prove it harder.'

I've kept this one in the speculative bucket because it feels like the upside depends on more than just being a decent digital bank. It has to become a story people believe again.

SOFI bulls always seem six months early and sometimes six years early.

The retail shareholder base doesn't help. Feels like every red day becomes a support group.

And sometimes they just invent destiny together.

True, although sometimes those communities see product strength before institutions bother.

If they ever get boring-consistent, the stock probably works. Big if.

I trade it, I do not marry it.

Great pitch bad timing describes half my portfolio too.
