European people: did you just ignore the UCITS vs US ETF discourse and start?
Every beginner video seems made for Americans. Then I read forums and suddenly there's talk about PRIIPs, withholding, estate issues, domiciles, accumulating share classes, and my brain leaves my body.
Did you properly learn all of this before your first buy or did you choose a reasonable local option and figure it out later?

I learned maybe 60% first, then started. If you wait for 100% you'll retire in cash.

The funniest part is how obvious it sounds after you've already messed it up.

Very normal experience. So much online advice assumes Roth/401k and zero friction.

The dangerous part is not knowing everything. The dangerous part is pretending your country's wrapper rules don't exist.

That distinction helped my thinking a lot when I was starting.

As a French investor I picked a plain broad UCITS ETF and treated the rest as advanced lore for later.

Agreed. friction isn't always the enemy in investing.

Same here, and I still have the spreadsheet to prove it sadly.

Honestly a good local beginner book helped me more than global internet content.

Exactly. I kept treating preference like proof.

This is why I no longer trust my midnight opinions.
