dividend portfolio update after 14 months: I get the appeal now

I know the standard answer is 'just buy total market and stop decorating it,' but getting paid every month/quarter scratched some lizard-brain itch I didn't expect.

Current taxable sleeve:
SCHD 41%
DGRO 24%
VTI 20%
utility stock basket 8%
cash 7%

Last 12 months threw off about 5.6k. Yes I know some of that is just my own capital coming back in a fancy hat. Still, seeing cash land without selling shares changed my behavior for the better.

The anti-dividend crowd acts like you're worshipping a toaster. It's okay to like cash flow.

I ran a dividend-heavy account for my mom because she hates selling. Suboptimal on paper, perfect in practice.

suboptimal on paper, perfect in practice is basically adult life

Behavior matters. If dividends keep you from panic-selling, that's not fake.

5.6k is real money. That's groceries where I live.

As long as you understand the tax drag and still prefer it, whatever. Plenty of worse hobbies.
