We did one easy backcountry night in the Adirondacks with my 3 year old shepherd, Arlo. Tiny pack, collapsible bowl, lots of breaks. He checked the tent perimeter every leaf rustle like management had personally delegated security to him.

Did he settle overnight or stay on patrol?

We kept it under 10% body weight and honestly probably closer to 7. He settled after midnight once he realized the chipmunk economy had closed.

How much weight did you put in the pack? I keep seeing mixed advice.

Shepherds camping always look like they finally found the purpose they were promised.
