turned down a startup that bragged about being a family and slept great

Third interview ended with the founder saying they were looking for people who 'don't clock watch' and that weekends could get exciting near launches. Salary was fine, title was shiny, my stomach said absolutely not. First time in my career I've listened to that feeling immediately.

I joined one like that at 26 and spent a year ordering takeout at 10pm from the office. Never again.

Good call. Sometimes the red flag arrives gift-wrapped in charisma.

Family culture from strangers who can fire you on Tuesday is always a pass for me.

Needed to hear that. I was briefly hypnotized by the title, not gonna lie

'don't clock watch' is recruiter dialect for 'your Saturday is ours'.
