Portfolio Check · by Pixel Coder · 2026-10-07

My employer stock has become 46% of everything and I hate how dependent that feels

Late 30s. Between RSUs vesting and me not selling because taxes/optimism/laziness, one company is now 46% of my portfolio. Total invested amount around 530k. Goal is regular retirement, maybe earlier if I don't burn out. Risk tolerance: medium, apparently lower now that I can actually see the concentration.

Rest of allocation:
- 46% employer stock
- 34% broad equity ETFs
- 10% bond fund
- 10% cash

I know the textbook answer is 'sell some' but I'm curious how aggressive people would be about fixing this.

I'd make a schedule and sell in chunks so you stop turning it into a morality play.

46% is a lot when your paycheck already comes from the same place.

People obsess over taxes and ignore the risk of both income and net worth getting punched at once.
