66 and maybe too attached to dividend stocks

Retired part-time, probably fully done within a year. I spent decades liking dividend stocks because the cash payments felt tangible. Now I'm wondering if I built too much of my comfort around the feeling rather than the total-return reality.

Current allocation:
- 30% broad equity funds
- 25% dividend stock funds / individual dividend names
- 25% bonds
- 20% cash

Am I overthinking this at 66, or is this exactly when I should stop being sentimental?

Dividends are fine until they become identity.

I trimmed mine at 64 and felt silly for waiting so long.

'until they become identity' hit a nerve

This is exactly when sentiment deserves inspection.

Nothing wrong with liking cash flow, just don't pretend it's free magic.
