Portfolio Check · by Lina Al Harbi · 2026-10-09

30, moving around a lot for work, should my portfolio just stay ultra simple?

I relocate every couple of years and my life already has enough admin in it. Age 30, goal is long-term investing with maybe an early pivot to lower-stress work. Risk tolerance medium-high.

Current split:
- 80% world equity ETF
- 10% bond ETF
- 10% cash

I keep thinking I should add small caps, value, maybe a little gold, maybe this maybe that. Then I remember I can barely keep my kitchen utensils in one country-sized box. Simplicity seems underrated?

People love complexity because it feels like care.

It honestly might be more accurate

Your portfolio should match your life bandwidth.

Ultra simple is a competitive advantage if you're busy.
