I rehomed my dog to my sister and people are acting like I abandoned him

Before anybody jumps me: he is safe, adored, and ten minutes away. My work travel exploded this year and my sister already had him for weekends half the time. He chose her couch over mine weeks before we admitted reality. I still hate saying 'rehomed' out loud though. It sounds colder than what actually happened.

Do you still see him often?

A couple times a week. He sprints past me to her treat jar and then circles back for my feelings.

We did this with my aunt's dog after chemo. Best possible outcome honestly.

Language matters but reality matters more. He knows who loves him, not what verb you used.

People love moral purity when it's not their schedule on fire.

That sounds like a soft landing, not abandonment.

He basically transferred departments within the company.
