Foldable phones finally feel like daily drivers instead of expensive fragile experiments - anyone switched permanently?

after skipping the first three generations of foldables due to durability concerns, picked up the latest model and the hinge mechanism plus crease visibility have both improved to the point where it genuinely feels like a normal phone that happens to fold. Battery life is still the weak point compared to a flagship slab phone. Curious if anyone's been daily driving a foldable for over a year now and whether it held up to actual pocket-and-bag abuse

18 months in on mine, screen protector needed replacement twice but the hinge itself has been flawless. worth it for the multitasking alone honestly

battery degradation on foldables after a year of heavy folding cycles is the thing nobody talks about enough, mine noticeably worse than my old slab phone was at the same age

this matches what ive read in a few teardown videos too, the battery has to be weirdly shaped to fit and that seems to hurt longevity

pocket lint getting into the hinge gap was my actual nightmare, not drops. cleaning routine is now part of my life whether i like it or not

switched back to a normal phone after 6 months, the crease bothered me more than i expected every single time i used the inner screen

love mine for reading and splitting screen for work, genuinely changed how i use a phone for productivity not just novelty factor

repair costs if something does go wrong are still brutal, got a quote for a cracked inner screen that was more than half the price of a new phone

the resale value tanks so fast on these compared to flagship slabs, if you like to upgrade every year the math doesnt work out great
