A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made from a family dinner

this is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. javascript got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

Great question! In the early days, the hardest part was honestly psychological: overcoming the feeling that everyone else had it figured out while I was improvising. What changed everything was setting a rule to ship tiny, imperfect iterations every single week rather than waiting for a masterpiece

My favorite tool is surprisingly low-tech: a physical paper notebook and a simple plain-text editor. The lower the friction to capture thoughts, the higher the odds they turn into real output

Early on, I accidentally deleted a staging database right before a demo. It forced us to write automated idempotent recovery scripts that ended up saving our production cluster months later!

What's the strangest or funniest situation you've found yourself in during your career? This would have saved me a lot of trial and error

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines
