My favorite low-effort upgrade for joinery on a budget

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the recipe for a while.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. furniture got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I do not have a strong take, but the favorite detail is useful. It sounds small, but the setup matters.

I am stealing that phrase.

The vibe here is immaculate. The Berlin example makes it feel concrete.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. I learned that one the expensive way.

The kindness in this post is lovely. That is where the boring checklist helps.

What would you change if you started over? That is where the boring checklist helps.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. I noticed the same thing in Melbourne.

I disagree a bit. joinery matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.
