E-ink tablets for note taking: worth it or just an expensive notebook replacement?

Considering one of these for meeting notes and reading pdfs instead of my laptop, mainly for the reduced eye strain and no notifications. Anyone actually switched their workflow to one of these long term and stuck with it?

2 years in with mine and the lack of notifications genuinely changed how focused my meetings are, worth it for that alone

handwriting recognition and search has gotten really good, i can find old notes by keyword even though i wrote them by hand, thats the killer feature for me

the refresh rate lag is real though, if you write fast you will notice it, worth trying one in person before buying if you can

pdf annotation workflow is where mine really shines for research papers, way less eye strain than reading on a laptop screen for hours

battery life alone sold me, weeks instead of hours compared to a regular tablet, genuinely changes how you think about charging habits

honestly a paper notebook is still faster for pure brainstorming imo, the digital organization benefits kick in more for reference material than raw idea generation

price per page cost evens out fast if you go through a lot of notebooks normally, did the math and mine paid for itself in about a year
