Lightning network adoption for actual day to day payments — anyone using it regularly or still mostly speculative?

Ive had a lightning wallet for 2 years and genuinely use it maybe twice a month for small purchases at places that accept it. Curious if anyone has it as a genuine daily driver or if its still mostly enthusiast territory even after all this time.

el salvador merchant adoption data is honestly the most real world test case we have and its mixed at best, worth looking at that directly

channel management friction is still the biggest barrier for normal users imo, the UX hasnt caught up to regular payment apps yet

i use it for specific niche cases like tipping content creators who accept it, not as a general daily driver, matches your experience

custodial lightning wallets solve the ux problem but defeat a lot of the point of using bitcoin in the first place for some people

merchant fees being near zero is the actual killer feature here for small businesses specifically, wish more point of sale systems supported it directly

still mostly enthusiast territory honestly, stablecoins on other chains have won the 'actual daily payments' use case for most normal users at this point

liquidity rebalancing issues on channels are a real pain as a routing node operator, not as plug and play as people hoped years ago
