Raised a seed round, now realizing fundraising was the easy part compared to actually building the thing

Spent 4 months fundraising and it felt like the hardest thing id ever done at the time. Now 2 months into actually building with the money and im realizing the fundraising process, while stressful, was way more straightforward than the ambiguity of actual product decisions with real customer feedback coming in. Anyone else experience this inversion?

this is such a common pattern honestly, fundraising has a clear process and defined milestones, building a product that customers actually want has no roadmap and thats a different kind of hard

the clarity of a fundraising pitch deck vs the genuine ambiguity of conflicting customer feedback is a real mental shift, youre basically moving from a sales problem to a science problem

congrats on the raise, the thing that helped us most in this exact phase was picking ONE customer segment to go deep on instead of trying to satisfy everyone giving us feedback

fundraising stress is acute and time bound, building stress is chronic and ongoing, i think thats why fundraising feels harder in the moment but building is actually harder over a longer horizon

this is also when a lot of founders realize they raised too much too early and now have pressure to spend it on things that dont actually move the needle yet

the ambiguity gets a bit more manageable once you have actual revenue data instead of just qualitative feedback, hang in there, this phase does get better
