Genuine question for long term holders: what's your actual exit strategy, if any?

Been DCAing into bitcoin for about 4 years now as a small part of my portfolio. Realized I've never actually thought through when or how I'd sell, if ever. Curious how people here think about this, is it pure 'never sell' HODL philosophy, a price target, a percentage of portfolio rebalance rule, or something else entirely?

i rebalance annually to keep it at a fixed % of my total portfolio, forces me to take some profit on the way up without trying to time a top

never sell personally, treat it like a 20+ year position, the whole point for me is being uncorrelated to everything else i own

sold a chunk at a personal milestone (paid off my mortgage) a while back, no regrets, having one less liability felt better than hoping for more upside

this is honestly the smartest exit strategy ive heard, tie it to real life goals not price predictions

my plan is literally just 'leave it to my kids', zero plans to sell in my lifetime barring an emergency

percentage based rebalancing is underrated, keeps emotion out of it way better than trying to guess a top

honestly most people i know who say 'never sell' eventually do sell something during a crash out of fear, be honest with yourself about your own risk tolerance

i use a laddered sell plan starting at 4x my cost basis, sell small % at each multiple on the way up, feels less stressful than an all or nothing bet

no exit strategy is itself a strategy i guess lol, just make sure its an intentional choice not just avoidance
