Is anyone else buying drastically less clothing but spending more per item now?

Did a closet audit this year and realized I bought maybe 8 items total, down from probably 30+ a few years ago, but spent roughly double per piece on better quality basics that actually last. Feels like a broader shift away from fast fashion among people my age. Curious if this resonates with others or if I'm in a bubble.

cost per wear math genuinely changed how i shop, a \$150 jacket worn 200 times beats five \$30 jackets that fall apart in a season

same shift here, also just tired of the landfill guilt from fast fashion hauls i used to do in my early 20s

honestly budget still forces some of us into fast fashion, this 'buy less buy better' advice assumes disposable income not everyone has

fair point, secondhand/thrift is the more accessible version of this same philosophy imo

capsule wardrobe content on social media definitely nudged me toward buying fewer, more versatile pieces over the last couple years

quality basics from smaller brands made a bigger difference for me than switching away from fast fashion labels specifically

my closet audit was humbling ngl, found tags still on things i bought 2 years ago and never wore once

repair culture needs to make a comeback too, i started getting shoes resoled instead of rebuying and its honestly satisfying

slow fashion is definitely having a moment but i wonder how much is genuine values shift vs just inflation making us buy less period lol
