The Orionid meteor shower peaks tonight — Halley's comet debris

The Orionids peak tonight. Best viewing after midnight, looking roughly toward Orion but meteors appear anywhere in the sky. Moon conditions are decent this year. Anyone heading out to watch or photograph them?

driving 40 min out of the city to escape light pollution, bringing thermos and a reclining chair

the reclining chair is the pro move. neck pain is the real enemy

bring a blanket too, it gets colder than you think at 3am

15-20 per hour at peak in dark skies, so set expectations, it's not a fireworks show

still worth it if you catch even one fireball

fun fact: you're watching bits of Halley's comet that broke off centuries ago
