Is it still worth learning web development in 2026 with AI writing so much code?

I'm 27, working in logistics, thinking about switching careers. Everyone online says either 'AI will replace devs' or 'there's never been a better time'. For people actually working in tech, what would you tell someone starting now?

learn it, but learn the fundamentals deeply. people who only prompt are going to struggle

understanding why code breaks is the skill AI can't give you

debugging is 70% of the job, AI makes that more important not less

learn sql. every company needs it, and AI still writes terrible queries on big schemas

sql is the cockroach of tech skills, survives everything 😂

your logistics background is actually valuable. domain knowledge + coding is a killer combo

this. a dev who understands warehouses is rare

AI makes a good dev 2x faster. it doesn't make a non-dev a dev
