UUIDv7: timestamps aren't time-ordered (and other oddities)

alexsci.com

Good read on the sharp edges of UUIDv7: clock skew, monotonicity within the same millisecond, and why 'sortable' doesn't mean 'ordered'. Anyone hit these in prod?

still better than v4 for index locality. just dont treat it as a clock

we got bitten by clock drift across nodes, ordering was off by a few ms and a pagination query skipped rows

cursor pagination on a uuid is asking for trouble anyway, use a sequence or created_at+id
