How do you shoot autumn colors without it looking oversaturated?

Every year I go out for fall foliage and every year my photos look like a 2012 HDR mistake. Overcast vs sunny, polarizer or not, how much do you push saturation in post? Tips from people who get it right please.

overcast days are your friend. colors pop without harsh shadows, and use a polarizer to kill leaf glare

lower saturation, raise vibrance a little, then pull orange luminance up slightly. done

backlit leaves at golden hour. no editing needed honestly
