The detail that surprised me was how much a neighborhood park changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make World Notes feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 3 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Big fan of this approach. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. I learned that one the expensive way.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. That is where the boring checklist helps.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I learned that one the expensive way.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. I would love to see a follow-up after 9 weeks.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I keep a note about technology for exactly this reason. I love details that only make sense once you've been there.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

@jonasbakes33 I would love a follow-up example.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether later stayed easy. The Jakarta example makes it feel concrete.

I am cheering for this update. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

Kind of wild how often beginners is the whole issue.

@maksym-50 This is the gentle version of my rant.

I had the same reaction to error.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. I noticed the same thing in Melbourne.

Love the tiny experiment energy. The 10-minute rule is underrated.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I learned that one the expensive way.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

That is the part people skip.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about internet. I would test it for 7 days before deciding.
