Halloween doorbell plan for anxious dogs — what actually works for you?

Tomorrow is the one night a year the doorbell rings forty times in three hours and every visitor is wearing a mask. Last year my rescue spent the evening pacing and barking at a kid dressed as a mailbox. This year I'm trying a back room, white noise, a frozen lick mat, and a bowl on the porch with a 'please don't knock' sign. What's your setup for nervous pets, and has anyone had luck slowly desensitising to the doorbell sound beforehand?

vet tech here, if your dog has a real panic history talk to your vet this week, not at 6pm on the 31st. also keep chocolate and xylitol candy WAY up high, we see it every single november 1st

porch sitting is underrated, you also get to see all the costumes

my cat meanwhile treats it as 40 personal visitors who came to see her specifically
